Just as we cherish holidays and special celebrations, the children eagerly anticipate the programs hosted by KKOOM. While some events, like our annual amusement park trip, have become cherished traditions, we adapt our programs to meet the evolving needs of the children’s homes.
Over time, we noticed that special events and enrichment activities were often cut due to limited funding and stricter government budgets. KKOOM steps in to provide these opportunities, ensuring children can enjoy meaningful experiences that support their growth and well-being.
KKOOM sponsors a variety of enrichment programs that provide children with new experiences, foster personal growth, and create lasting memories.
Each month, KKOOM recognizes students who excel academically and show leadership in their community and home. Nominated by their house mothers, these students participate in a special group activity of their choosing. This initiative encourages positive behavior, strong values, and confidence in their abilities.
For many years, KKOOM has sponsored soccer and arts camps in Seoul, which is often a first-time visit to the city for many students! In addition to participating in camp activities, they explore Seoul, enjoy Korean BBQ and bingsu, and even ride the subway. These experiences help build confidence, teamwork, and independence.
“I was so excited I went to the soccer camp. It was my first time in Seoul and I loved riding the bikes along the Han River and going to Namsan Tower after the soccer camp ended… We lost the soccer game, but I played hard and it was still a good time. This is my first time going to a camp like this.”
Several times a year, KKOOM sponsors fun field trips like amusement park visits to Everland near Seoul or E-World in Daegu. These outings allow children to bond with friends, try new rides, and create joyful memories that last a lifetime.
The U.S. Stay Program in Minnesota and New York gives children the opportunity to live with American host families, experience a new culture, and gain valuable life skills. Generously supported by a KKOOM Board member, this program expands their world and provides unforgettable learning experiences.
To celebrate spring and introduce the tradition of an egg hunt, we partnered with a KKOOM sponsored children’s home to hide treat-filled eggs for the children to find. They all had a blast and the eggs didn’t stay hidden for long!
Many activities work to give opportunities for the children to freely express their creativity and emotions through art. We have hosted several activities where students are able to show off their talent and decorate the coolest tote bags.
During Covid, the children’s homes were not able to take the children on trips outside. So, we brought the water park to the homes by providing funds for a day filled with water slides, water balloons and many more water filled activities.
